After Denial uses the framework of the five stages of grief – from Elisabeth Kübler-Ross and her seminal work On Death and Dying – to explore different reactions to the climate crisis. Each stage features different people navigating the emotional landscape of climate, from protests in New York, and climate group therapy in England, to the Dark Mountain artist workshop in Sweden. While not advocating for a particular response, or a linear journey, the film explores what it means to fully accept that we have changed the climate.
